On 29th April 2016, an operator working on Calais Port 2015 site, discovered a seal, wounded around the neck by a fishing net. Noémie Pruvost, Environmental Manager of the Construction Joint Venture, was alerted according to the guidelines, and handled the case. As the animal, a 5 month female showed an advanced weakened state, the CMNF organization was immediately informed as a protection association for nature, protecting wild mammals in the Nord-Pas de Calais area.
After the CMNF was consulted, the Calais League of Protection of Animals (LPA) took the seal called Noémie, to their wildlife care center. The fishing net was withdrawn and her wound received appropriate successful care, honey anointing the wound. Noémie was only weighing 23 kg when discovered injured. She was ringed and returned with a 43 kg weight back to sea water on the 3rd June on Calais beach, in presence of the operator, Noémie Pruvost, Samir El Hadri, Quality Manager of the Building Group and Calais LPA teams.
