The Western inner embankment construction has already started.
This second embankment located on the West side of “Calais Port 2015” future basin will have a 700 meter final length and join the East jetty of the current port. 4 hectares will be so reclaimed from the sea for a new platform at the port entrance to accommodate future ro-ro terminals like the ferry berths located on the Eastern inner embankment. Its privileged position between the entrances of both basins also makes it the ideal site for the future harbor master house implementation.
Its building is carried out in the same way as the breakwater section 4 with 4 m3 Xblocs® and will be completed in May 2017 after its backfilling.
