The seawall slab was casted before this 2018 summer on the Section 4 breakwater along the platforms.
Prefabricated reinforced concrete formworks were thereafter used to erect the seawall. These formworks are produced in a specialized factory located in France, in the Nièvre region, then transported by truck and placed on site before being implemented around the steels.
This process has been extensively tested by the Design and Construction Joint Venture first to guarantee the wall resistance to wave forces in the event of stormy weather but also to eliminate the corrosion risk of reinforcement steel.
The wall construction will now go ahead on other sections of the breakwater in a more delicate spatial context as these sections are surrounded by basin water on one side and by the sea on the other side.
