After building the foundation piles of No.1 and 2 engineering structures, the Design and Construction Joint Venture is currently arranging abutment posts (to support future bridges on both sides).
Soon they will not be visible any longer because backfilling around will follow quickly as well as manufacturing vertical concrete walls. These concrete slabs so called “scales” are prefabricated on works site then laid out on engineering works.
Both these engineering structures will have to be finalized first before starting No.7 engineering structure works during summer 2018 as planned … Thus technical design and construction issues are identified every day to continue to meet Calais Port 2015 schedule.
