Calais Port 2015 now represents about 25 % of the activity
of quarries located around Marquise basin a priori for several years.
The extraction is first carried out with explosive detonations breaking rocks, then the so called “primary” product is extracted, crushed and calibrated according to its future use. This work is technical and requires a constant attention and discipline for working people safety on site and the quietness of the neighbourhood. “We also have to take care about sustainable development”, says Vincent Ribard, Director of Stinkal.
We operate a resource known as exhaustible,
which requires a long-term vision to be effective
while minimizing the impact on the environment
Stinkal makes every effort to meet this huge demand.
“8 people work full time for Calais Port 2015 and it is interesting to note that a quarryman job induces an average of 3 subcontracting jobs created mainly in transport” as explains Benjamin Lonquety, Stinkal Sales Manager. 15 local carriers work for Calais Port 2015 which represents about 20 drivers performing daily roundtrips. Also worth mentioning that road infrastructures particularly the access ramp for trucks and the buffer recently put into service by the port services, absorb the increase in traffic … : an average of half an hour for one way showing a smooth traffic flow.
